Abortion As a Political Football

This debate does not stop at the philosophical and moral level.  It shapes our political debate as well.  As the federal government and specific state laws have regulative power over aspects of health care, it follows that politicians would seek to limit or expand the occurrence of abortion based upon their own views.

Given the religious nature of many of the moral arguments, it was inevitable that this debate would  become a discussion of religious liberty as well.  A recent Supreme Court decision on this subject, Burwell v.
